The Institute of Applied Technology, the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, and the Korea Electric Power Corporation agreed on the 27th of December 2009 to cooperate to help develop the educational infrastructure providing the required qualified manpower to the emerging nuclear industry in the United Arab Emirates. It is the mandate of AD Poly to establish and implement a program capable of qualifying national graduates to join the nuclear industry as skilled manpower.
The AD Poly integrates knowledge and practical skills through balanced delivery of academic material at AD Poly and OJT by a nuclear industry training provider. This offers the students a solid career path towards gaining an accredited Higher Diploma in Advanced Energy Engineering Technology while receiving training leading to job qualification certificates in operational, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and control, chemical, and radiation protection specializations.
The advantage of this program is that it allows graduates with high achievements and ambition to pursue higher educational studies. Due to the lack of nuclear power industry training facilities in the UAE, OJT and workplace experience will often be conducted in concert with industrial partners in other countries, such as South Korea.
