Oracle Day and Coding Marathon 2016


 
 
Oracle Day: The Oracle Academy team will present the program features, educational resources, and curricula related to programming, database security, database management, etc. 

Tentative agenda shortly which will include presentations 

CODATHON: The Coding Marathon (in conjunction with Oracle Day) 


Theme: Beat the time and finish coding for a series of problems

What:
The Contest is a challenging and fun opportunity for high school/college level students to improve their programming skills. A linkage with secure coding using Java programming technology to solve security related problems..

Why:
The contents encourages the development of creative problem-solving and communication skills as students work with their teammates to generate solutions to programming problems.

The contest will include problem solving using Java and will have three hours to implement solutions. Solutions will be judged for correctness and speed of solving.

Who:
The event is aimed primarily at high school students, with no restriction on geographical location of the high school inside UAE. High school students in grades 10, 11 and 12 are invited to enter. Students will work in three-person teams.
 
 
CODATHON Rules:
Each school may enter at most three teams. Team can be of 2-3 members. A parallel track can be also conducted for college level students programming aimed for innovative undergraduate developers!. Secure coding will be of primary interest as well to all School/College students currently attending or interested in Information Security Programs; hence expanding their awareness in Cyber security and be introduced to a highly on demand job market.

Registration:
Registration will open on January 15th, and close on March 15th 2016.
The contest is limited to the first 20 teams that register prior to March. 15, 2016. 
More school’s teams will be accepted after the deadline if space allows.

*Meals will also be provided at the contest site to students (snacks).

When:
Tuesday March 15th, 2016 from 10:10 AM– 1 PM  (3 hours contest). The contest will be held in parallel with Oracle Day. Oracle day is an event aimed at exposing high school/college students to the dynamic range of opportunities Computer Science has to offer! Oracle will give students a leg up on what types of jobs are available for CS majors, and how to best prepare for them. 
Certificate

All registered participants that complete the contest will receive a Certificate of Attendance. The students will formulate teams of two students and work on problems set. Winners of the contest will be receiving financial prizes at the end of the Oracle day.

Awards:
Valuable awards will be given to first three winners of each category (Schools, Universities)

Required Resources: 
Each student group will bring their laptops. ADPoly will provide necessary development setups. 

Awareness Session:
Awareness session about the competition will be held in Abu Dhabi Polytechnic during the wee of March 6th.  Exact date and time will be published on the competition website.
