Short Bio

Eng. Khalid Hussain is a professional technical lecturer and petroleum engineering consultant with 10 + years of working experience in the North Sea oil industry and UAE. He has a Master of Science Degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Stavanger, Norway. During his Master Degree Thesis, he invented Cryogenic Analysis technique for Gas Condensate reservoir fluid. Previously during his 6 years at Weatherford Labs Norway as Senior Petroleum Engineer, he has trained fresh Lab technologist and engineers about PVT Lab Equipment and Reservoir Fluid Studies. He also designed and delivered training courses and presentations for Oil Industry Professionals during his 2-year job in Proserv Norway as Senior Technical Advisor. He also worked in Manufacturing and Quality Management systems of Oil & Gas Sampling equipment and High-Pressure PVT cylinders during his job with Proserv, Stavanger, Norway. He has also led a multimillion-dollar project to develop a brand new Calibration Lab in Norway for Applus+ Spain. He also developed and implemented a quality management system for Calibration Lab and procedures to get ISO 17025 accreditation from Norwegian Accreditation successfully.

During his job in Abu Dhabi Polytechnic, Eng. Khalid Hussain has delivered many courses related to Petroleum Engineering, Advanced Mathematics, Creativity and Innovation. He has supervised many students’ innovative projects that are shortlisted and awarded in Explore Mars Competition by Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre, Think Science Competition by Emirates Foundation, University Innovation Programme by Expo 2020 Dubai, Innovators by Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), Abu Dhabi, Undergraduate Student Research Conference by UAEU, Al Ain, Abu Dhabi SPE Young Professionals paper contest by The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), RD Petro 2018 by ADNOC and AARE -2017 Award for Research by ADEK , Abu Dhabi.

He has also developed new inventions and his 8 patent applications are in process with TAKAMUL, a Patent Registry of Abu Dhabi. He is an active member of Abu Dhabi Polytechnic Innovation and Research Committee and has promoted innovation culture in Abu Dhabi Polytechnic by holding workshops in Abu Dhabi Polytechnic and presentations in Annual IAT conferences.

He is also active members of Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), HSE Sub Committee, Student Internship, and Employment committee, Continue Improvement Committee (CQI) sub Committee, Training Development sub Committee.

He is also an academic advisor for Petroleum Engineering students and providing educational guidance and assistance for students by planning schedules, recommending courses and determining appropriate education solutions for different types of PET students.

He is also working as a supervisor of graduation projects and assisting PET students with the selection and planning of an innovative research topic and also assisting the PET students in being aware of current graduation project final’s presentations and reports requirements, deadlines, participation competitions and sources of funding, etc.

He has also delivered short courses about engineering skills during Skills4life Technology camp arranged by ACTVET in Abu Dhabi Polytechnic Al Ain.

He is also working on ABET accreditation documentation for PET department as a member of the CQI committee. His tasks involve developing and maintaining a comprehensive collection and cataloging process for all assessment reports, program review documents, evidence data for use in decision-making, continuous quality improvement initiatives, and academic initiatives etc.
