Dr. Amr AbdelAty is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Abu Dhabi Polytechnic, Institute of Applied Technology. He has over a decade of teaching and research experience across Egypt and the UAE, with a proven record of excellence in education, research, and academic service.

Dr. AbdelAty has taught a wide range of mathematics courses including calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, probability and statistics, complex analysis, and partial differential equations. His teaching philosophy emphasizes interactive and application-driven learning, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Throughout his career, he has also contributed to curriculum development and co-organized events, guiding students toward research publications and conference presentations.

His research focuses on fractional calculus and its multidisciplinary applications, spanning bio-impedance, chaotic systems, spiking neurons, analog filters, energy storage devices, metaheuristic optimization, and microgrid control. He has published more than 50 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters in high-impact outlets (primarily Q1 and top 10%), resulting in an H-index of 19 and over 1,100 citations (Scopus). His contributions have been recognized with the Best Ph.D. Thesis Award from Fayoum University (2021) and the Oliviu Gherman Award (2020) for advancing fractional calculus applications. He is an Associate Editor of the Fayoum University Journal of Engineering (FUJE), a Senior Member of IEEE, and a reviewer for more than ten international journals.

Before joining Abu Dhabi Polytechnic, Dr. AbdelAty served as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Amity University Dubai where he taught mathematics courses across engineering programs, contributed to curriculum review, and played an active role in various committees and conference organization. He also worked as part-time Faculty at Abu Dhabi University, delivering core mathematics courses. At Fayoum University in Egypt he held the position of assistant professor of engineering mathematics where he taught engineering mathematics courses, and contributed to curriculum updates, and co-supervised master’s students. Earlier in his career, he was an Instructor at Nile University in Egypt, where he combined teaching with mentoring undergraduate research projects through the Nile University Undergraduate Research Forum (UGRF).

His research career further includes a postdoctoral fellowship at Khalifa University, where he worked with the Advanced Power and Energy Center (APEC) on fractional-order control for enhancing the dynamics and stability of power electronics and microgrids. He also gained international exposure through a remote internship at KAUST, where he collaborated on fractional-order modelling of spiking neurons at the Communication and Computing Systems Lab.
