Dr. Aya Abdel-Hamid Mourad is currently an Instructor at Abu Dhabi Polytechnic. She received her B.Sc. (2013), M.Sc. (2017), and Ph.D. (2022) degrees in Chemical Engineering from the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), all with Excellent GPA and Honors. She began her academic career as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at UAEU in 2013 and later worked as a Process Engineer at Technip France –Abu Dhabi from 2014 to 2016. Since joining Abu Dhabi Polytechnic in 2016, she has been actively involved in teaching, research, and institutional service. Dr. Mourad has taught a variety of courses across engineering and science disciplines. Her research focuses on sustainable process engineering, particularly CO₂ capture, brine management, and desalination technologies that align with the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 and circular economy goals. She has authored over 25 scientific publications in top 1–10% journals, presented her work at international conferences, and holds a U.S. patent. Dr. Mourad has received multiple recognitions, including the Global Prize for Innovation in Desalination (2024), and the Chancellor’s Innovation Award (2023) and Top Journal Publication Award (2022), both presented by H.E. Zaki Nusseibeh for outstanding research and publications in the top 1% and 5% journals.
