Dr. Alkhazraji has acquired his B.Sc. (1st Honor Distinction), M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) in 2014, 2016, and 2020, respectively. Dr. Alkhazraji served as a Lecturer in Jubail Industrial College, Saudi Arabia between 2016-2022, before which he was a Research Assistant with the Electrical Engineering Department at KFUPM between 2014 and 2016. Afterwards, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and the Lab Manager of the Integrated Photonics Lab at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) between 2022 and 2023. In addition, he has acquired several training and professional certificates including Harvard’s BOK Higher Education Teaching Certificate and Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s (MIT) Micromaster in Statistics and Data Science.

Dr. Alkhazraji’s research interest revolves around Photonics and Optoelectronics in system level applications, mainly optical communication systems and optoelectronic hardware acceleration of machine learning and AI systems. His research publication portfolio consists of 15+ journal research articles and 25+ conference papers, most of which he presented himself in international meetings. Dr. Alkhazraji is the author of two books, two book chapters, and the holder of a US patent. He is an active member of The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and Optica. Additionally, he has served as a Guest Editor for Frontiers in Communications and Network and as a peer reviewer for Applied Physics Letters, IEEE ACCESS, IEEE Photonics Journal, Applied Physics, and Advanced Materials. He also served as a co-investigator of several research projects funded by KFUPM, King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), and Saudi Authority for Data and Artificial Intelligence (SDAIA).

Dr. Alkhazraji is the recipient of several awards for excellency in research and teaching by The Royal Commission of Jubail in 2017, 2018, 2019 and by King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in 2015 and 2016, as well as the top paper award in the NANOP conference, Paris in 2016. Dr. Alkhazraji is also a prolific artist in digital and traditional painting mediums as well as a Proper Arabic poet with several published pieces.
