Dr. Labeeb Ali holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), UAE. He did his Postdoctoral fellowship for one year at UAEU. He obtained an MSc in Chemical Engineering from UAEU in 2020. He received his bachelor’s degree from the Government Engineering College, Kozhikode, India, in 2014. He commenced his professional journey as a Chemical Engineer in the industrial sector for a duration of 4 years (2014-2018). During the years 2018-2020, he embarked on his research career by enrolling in the MSc in Chemical Engineering at UAEU. Further, he started pursuing his Ph.D. program in Chemical Engineering at UAEU from 2020-2024. He received five prestigious innovation awards, which include the Sharjah Sustainability Award (National award of UAE) in 2025, three consecutive UAEU chancellor innovation awards in 2022, 2023, and 2024, and the Sharjah Chamber Award for innovator in 2020 (National Award of UAE). He was a shortlisted finalist in the “Times Higher Education MENA (Middle East and North Africa) Award 2023” for the “Best Research Project of the year” and was a finalist for the prestigious national award “Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Environmental Award 2023, UAE”. The Times Higher Education recognized him in their Magazine in 2023 for tackling the world’s growing E-waste problem. The University World News (UWN), publisher of higher education news and development from a global perspective, acknowledged him for research on the production of jet fuels from plants. With several research and review articles published in high-impact journals, he has made extensive contributions to the field of chemical engineering. His research interests are chemical reaction engineering, catalytic reactions, thermochemical conversions, biomass catalysis, halogenated pollutants, waste management, and mitigating environmental pollutants, which target circularity and sustainability.
As an early research career, throughout the last 5 years (2020-2025), he was able to publish more than 50 scientific research articles, which include high-impact journals. In addition to publications, He has been awarded two U.S. patents. The reputed academic publishing company “Elsevier” certified him for publishing articles linked to SDG Goals for tackling the world’s greatest challenges. Moreover, he is experienced in carrying out tasks with the use of tools from molecular simulation and machine learning. The goal of all his research is to reduce the release of harmful chemicals into the environment by lowering carbon emissions and finding a reliable method for handling different types of waste. This effort will lead to a zero-emission focus on safety for both people and the environment. As a researcher, He considers focusing on addressing global challenges and promoting sustainability as an ethical responsibility and a contribution to advancing knowledge and solutions.
