Dr. Farhan Malik

Dr. Farhan H. Malik joined Abu Dhabi Polytechnic (ADPoly) in August 2018 and currently serves as Assistant Professor and Head of Electrical Engineering, and Manager for Mubadala Research Fund. He also coordinates the students’ Graduation Projects (GPs) at institutional level and leads multiple applied research initiatives, bridging academic research with industry needs.

Dr. Farhan earned his Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) in Electrical Engineering from Aalto University, Finland, in 2016. His doctoral research, titled “Flexible Loads in Smart Grids: Charging Solutions for EVs and Storage Space Heating”, focused on smart energy management and flexible load control. He has extensive experience in teaching, applied research, and industrial collaborations, having previously served as Assistant Professor at the American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait, and as a researcher at Aalto University, Finland.

At ADPoly, his work encompasses energy balance management, smart grid integration, electric vehicle systems, renewable energy systems and demand response strategies. He has led high-impact applied research projects, including smart photovoltaic cleaning systems, AI-driven precision agriculture, and drone-based inspection platforms, resulting in publications, patents, and industry collaborations.

Farhan is an IBM-certified Data Analyst and actively contributes to research commercialization, curriculum development, and industry-academia partnerships. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and has over 15 years of combined industrial, teaching, and research experience across Europe and the Middle East.
